No. 7 Penn State Holds Off No. 16 Michigan, 28-21
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Quarterback Sean Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio) was responsible all four Nittany Lion touchdowns and No. 7 Penn State held off a second-half Michigan charge to defeat the No. 16 Wolverines, 28-21, Saturday night in Big Ten football action.
Playing before the fourth-largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history with 110,669 in attendance, Penn State improved to 7-0 on the season (4-0 Big Ten) for its best start since 2017 and fifth 7-0 start since joining the Big Ten in 1993. Michigan fell to 5-2 (3-2 Big Ten). Penn State also defeated ranked opponents in back-to-back games (No. 17 Iowa, 17-12, last week) for the first time since 2005 when the Nittany Lions topped No. 18 Minnesota (44-14) and No. 6 Ohio State (17-10) in consecutive weeks.
